Berdasarkan cerita Kuroyanagai, kita masih bisa membuat deret yang tak habis-habis mengenai kekejaman perang dan derita anak.
Perjalanan kemanusiaan sebagai duta UNICEF yang dilakukan Totto-chan sungguh mengharukan. Totto-chan bertemu dengan jutaan anak dari puluhan negara. Sungguh menyedihkan melihat kehidupan anak-anak yang sejak kceil sudah merasakan begitu banyak penderitaan.
Dari bagaimana sucinya anak-anak yang tak kenal apa itu musuh karena menganggap semua teman. Ah, pokoknya salah satu buku terbaik yang sudah saya baca che tahun 2019 ini.
Kuakui mengerikan melihat foto-foto tersebut dan membaca tulisan ini. tapi kenyataan yang terjadi adalah aku tak bisa melepaskan buku ini sampai pada halaman terakhir.
Aku banyak belajar dari anak-anak ini, mereka tidak pernah patah semangat, mereka tetap ingin hidup lebih lama, mereka selalu memandang jauh ke depan terus jauh ke depan dan mereka selalu melihat akan hadirnya sebuah harapan.
Ternyata buku ini mengisahkan ttg kehidupan Tetsuko Kuroyanagi selama menjadi Duta UNICEF, mengunjungi banyak negara miskin dan sangat terbelakang akibat perang saudara bertahun-tahun.
Sedikit atau banyak, demi kepentingan atau bukan, peperangan selalu membuahkan perih dan kesakitan. Dibuku ini juga ditampilkan beberapa negara yang menjadi daerah konflik akibat perang saudara.
